L. Knife & Son, Inc. was founded in 1898 by Luigi Cortelli, a shepherd and immigrant from northern Italy, who settled in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Mr. Cortelli, whose name was Americanized to Louis Knife, sold groceries from a horse-drawn cart and eventually added grains and animal feeds to his business. His son Domero established a distribution agreement with Anheuser-Busch in 1934 following the repeal of Prohibition. After Domero's death in 1963, his son-in-law, Gerald Sheehan, bought the business and has been its president since.

The company, which is now four generations strong in family ownership and operation, has grown to include an importing company, and twelve distribution operations which provide statewide coverage in Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Specialty Beverage of Richmond, in partnership with its’ sister company Legends Ltd of Baltimore, is looking for a Key Accounts Manager for Virginia, Maryland and DC.  This individual will be responsible for successfully growing both the on-premise and off-premise account base of Specialty Beverage and Legends Ltd.   This position is based out of Richmond.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Develop relationships with all National/Regional Chain buyers and district managers 
• Expand the portfolios of Specialty Beverage in Virginia and Legends Ltd in both Maryland and Washington DC in on and off premise chain accounts
• Develop in-store marketing programs that enhance the image and sales of both locations
• Gain feature ad activity
• Gain display distributions
• Insure quality merchandising within all chains
• Increase cooler space by participating in the reset process for all chains
• Communicate all pricing changes and manage all communication between each chain and Specialty Beverage and Legends Ltd
• Work with brewery reps to develop custom sales program for each chain

• Bachelor’s degree
• Knowledge of legal requirements regarding the sale and delivery of alcoholic beverages
• Excellent managerial, communication and leadership capabilities
• Direct experience in the beverage industry calling on chain accounts – 5+ years
