POSITION:                   St. Louis Market Manager

LOCATIONS:                St. Louis Metro

 

REPORTS TO:              Next Level Program Director  

 

 

MGP COMPANY SUMMARY

MGP has been supplying quality beverage alcohol to spirit suppliers since the 1940s and is one of the world’s leading producers of premium bourbons, whiskeys, gins and vodkas.  MGP recently began selling and marketing their own company owned brands and currently has two brands on the market - Till Vodka and George Remus Bourbon with additional products in development. 

 

NEXT LEVEL MARKETING COMPANY SUMMARY

MGP is partnering with Next Level Marketing to help manage and support their U.S. Sales Team.  Next Level Marketing is widely recognized as one of the beverage industry’s leading brand activation agencies.  Next Level operates nationally to build premium brands with a team of experienced and passionate beverage professionals specializing in Brand Ambassador Programs, Consumer Sampling Programs, Special Events and Beverage Consulting Services. 

 

POSITION SUMMARY 

The MGP Market Manager will play a key role in the company’s branded portfolio by directly calling on and managing a list of assigned key accounts, helping to manage and motivate the distributor sales reps, and engaging with consumers at local events. The position must create passion and excitement for the MGP brands by building internal and external customer relationships that translate into impactful commercial results.

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The MGP Market Manager reports directly to an assigned Next Level Program Director for administrative support and to the MGP Regional Sales Manager for their geographic area for strategic direction. 

 

SUPERVISION

This position works with minimal day to day supervision with a high degree of accountability for results delivery.  A high degree of communication, self-discipline, organization and independent judgment are required. 

 

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

§ Brand Development:

o  Identify target accounts for brand volume and image building, develop partnership programs for each target account.

o  Give voice and life to the brand through interaction with the bartenders and key decision makers in the key accounts.

o  Educate the distributor sales team and key customers on product history, heritage, consumption, key brand characteristics and quality.

o  Build a positive and confident attitude towards the brand winning the hearts and minds of the distributor reps. 

o  Provide technical support for brand visibility and on-premise activities.

 

§ Support Marketing And Commerical Efforts:   

o  Build long-term brand building partnerships in the market.     

o  Implementation of planned promotional activity in the on-premise. 

o  Sample consumers in the off-premise.

o  Provide market intelligence on key competitor activity and best practices.

 

§ Event/PR Support activity:

o  Represent MGP at an approved industry events throughout the year.

o  Identify sponsorshipopportunities in assigned markets.   

o  Build relationships with influencer trade associations such as the USBG.   

Job Requirements

POSITION SKILLSET REQUIREMENTS 

§  Premium on-premise spirits sales experience and mixology passion

 

§  Strong local market knowledge with existing key account relationships

 

§  Past experience working with a major distributor in the market

 

§  Ability to master brand education to train, educate and influence trade partners

 

§  Ability to work independently and willing to work full-time, non-traditional hours

 

§  Detailed oriented, organized with ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks

 

§ Be comfortable with cold calling on accounts to sell in distribution and programming 

 

§  Strong interpersonal skills to influence and partner with customers and co-workers

 

§  Excellent written and oral communication skills

 

§  Ability to understand, manage and responsibly track assigned budgets

 

§  Demonstrated computer proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and web-based reporting tools

 

§  Ability to conduct oneself in an ethical and professional manner

 

§  Clean driving record and good credit history

 

§ Must be able to provide own transportation to and from accounts and events

 

§  Must be willing to travel out of the home market to cover additional assigned markets as needed

 

§  College degree preferred
