POSITION:                 Cutty Sark Brooklyn Brand Entrepreneur

BRAND/COMPANY SUMMARY

 

In 1923 Cutty Sark Blended Scotch Whiskey was created and smuggled into the US by Captain William McCoy (The Real McCoy). Following the 1933 repeal of Prohibition, Cutty Sark became the best-selling Scotch whisky known for its smoothness and easy drinking.  Created from a blend of over 120 malt & grain whiskies, Cutty Sark is matured in American oak casks and is best enjoyed neat, in soda, or in classic scotch cocktails.

 

Cutty Sark is imported and marketed by Edrington Americas.  Edrington is based in Scotland and its portfolio of spirits led by The Macallan and Highland Park single malt scotch whiskies is enjoyed throughout the world. Edrington is owned by The Robertson Trust, which donated £15.3 million to charities in the past year.

This is not a brand ambassador or promotional model position.  The Brand Entrepreneur is a dedicated, passionate, brand champion, with an entrepreneurial drive to make Cutty Sark the next hot whisky. This position is for an entrepreneur who is a self-starter, ambitious, highly driven to succeed, and enjoys going the extra mile to achieve results and rewards. The Brand Entrepreneur is a multi-faceted position encompassing marketing, activation ideation & execution, sales, and event management with great autonomy and ownership.  As the main brand representative in Brooklyn, this individual must live and breathe the brand, thrive in the underdog mentality, flex their creative muscles, enjoy late nights, and of course love whisky!

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Brand Entrepreneur reports directly to the Edrington NY sales team with supervision from the national brand manager.  

 

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Market Management

·       Be the Expert! Act as our in-market local authority on the brand.

·       Seek opportunities to sample, educate, entertain, expose, and partner with influencers and consumers

·       Identify, partner, and execute opportunistic events in non-traditional accounts

·       Create & develop a social media following on Facebook, & Instagram that adheres to corporate policy and Brand guidelines.

  • Work alongside the local sales team to ensure they are informed of area activity.
  • Create summary program recaps identifying key metrics, learnings, competitive and local market insight and future program recommendations

 

Account Management

  • Develop on/off premise & non-licensed accounts to establish relationships with partners/influencers
  • Increase Brand visibility in on/off premise with locally developed programs
  • Secure menu/chalkboard placements
  • Build brand advocacy through brand specific trainings for key staff in on and off-premise accounts (bartenders, wait-staff, retail floor staff)
  • Schedule and execute event activations in off premise & non-licensed accounts to brand standards 
Job Requirements

POSITION SKILLSET REQUIREMENTS 

·      Prior beverage alcohol industry experience is a plus, but not mandatory

·      Must reside in Brooklyn, NY,

·      Strong local market and neighborhood knowledge

·      Passion for brown spirits (scotch, bourbons, whiskies)

·      Motivated self-starter, gregarious, articulate, charismatic, and outgoing

·      Strong interpersonal skills to influence and partner with trade and consumers

·      Ability to work independently and manage a personal schedule

·      Ability to think creatively, ideate new activations, and execute untraditional marketing campaigns

·      Detailed oriented, highly organized with ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks

·      Ability to work a full time position with non-traditional hours

·      Comfortable with cold calling on accounts & local businesses, networking into new circles, selling in brand activations & programming 

·      Ability to understand, manage and responsibly track assigned budgets

·      Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and web-based reporting tools

·      Experience utilizing social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram

·      Ability to conduct oneself in an ethical and professional manner at all times
