Job Description

Area Managers run either a single metro market/geography, or multiple metro markets and geographies. This position also focuses on developing Rangers into great sales people and provide a solid foundation in the working of the beer business and wholesale distribution.  Candidate will be responsible for all business generated in the Chicago Land area along with Western Illinois and will reside in the Chicago area.

Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Skill Growth - conduct reviews, quarterly progress reports, create skill development plans, Personal Work Objectives, benchmarking performance vs. objectives, and conducting skill development days.
  • Team Development - conducts team meetings, training sessions and team building.
  • Field Work - work with each team member calling on retailers and distributors; building and managing distributor partnerships
  • Planning and Management - develop and manage all annual market plans. Performs or attends Monthly Business Reviews
  • Standards - responsible for ensuring quality assurance and brand standards.
  • Budgets - directly manages the P&L including distributor marketing funds and spending plans; responsible for achieving financial targets and operating within budget parameters
  • Core Accounts - develop and maintain strong relationship on and off-premise accounts, builds strong partnerships, creates programs, and conducts business reviews
  • Strategy/Planning - create brand, market, and pricing strategies with action plans
  • Share Growth - ensures that NBB is growing share over top craft competitors
  • Pricing - works with Regional Director to develop pricing strategy in the market and works with distributors to regulate margin, and  implement price increases.
  • National Accounts - build strong partnerships and performs regular business reviews
  • Local Marketing - identify and execute local sponsorships, events and donation opportunities
  • Knowledge - knows pricing, business math, trends, and competitive actions.
  • NBB Communication and Deliverables; competitor knowledge, pricing, programming and trends
  • Deliverables - market plan tracker updates, distributor monthly business review meeting, mid-month numbers, development day recaps, and projects as needed.

Job Requirements

Desired Skills/Experience (but not limited to)

  • 3+ years as a rising star in beverage sales, national accounts or wholesale distribution management. 
  • Must have strong understanding of distributor workings, national accounts, brand building, people development, basic computer skills and pricing dynamics. 
  • Squeaky Clean Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR)
