The Charmer Sunbelt Group (CSG) is one of the nation’s leading distributors of spirits and fine wines. We are a family business that proudly serves as the critical link between the companies that produce alcoholic beverages and the retail outlets where they are sold, or the restaurants and pubs where they are consumed. Getting these consumer products to market is the collective effort of our more than 7,000 CSG associates in some sixteen markets across the United States. These associates fill a variety of roles that together are responsible for helping to manage some of the most valuable and well-known consumer brands in the world.
What is unique to CSG is the enormous pride we take, not only in hiring great minds, but also in cultivating them. We believe that although it is valuable to hire an industry expert, it is an even greater achievement to lead an associate through the education process, which brings together two of CSG’s most important mottos: “Training is a process” and “Associates are our greatest Asset.”
CSG’s commitment to training literally begins at the top with our Chairman Ray Herrmann, who began his career in the beverage industry as a salesman after the end of World War II. Ray has often said that his training at the time was limited to the phrase ‘Go out and sell,” and the realization of how much more effective he would have been with competitive insights has driven his focus on training excellence which today is at the core of The Charmer Sunbelt Group.
Also integral to CSG is the sense of respect that pervades all levels—from the warehouse to the corporate headquarters: respect for each other, respect for the communities in which we live and work; and respect for the beverage alcohol industry and a shared sense of responsibility that comes with working in that industry.
CSG understands the importance of giving back, and we’ve made a serious commitment to the communities in which we operate. In fact, The Charmer Sunbelt Group companies collectively donate more than $5 million and countless hours to local and national charities each year.
At the heart of our organization is an unwavering commitment to the responsible sales and consumption of alcohol, and it is a matter of pride to all associates that we partner with our customers and suppliers, as well as industry organizations and members of the local and national legislatures to endorse zero tolerance for underage drinking and drunk driving – not only because it’s good business, but also because it is the right thing to do.
